Eye Infection...on a 29th Feb~

Today is 29th February 2012, the only day that will occur once in every 4 years. I am also not sure if it is pure sheer luck or 2012 is really a 不幸之年 for me to have this happen on me.

Just yesterday, my left eye felt very uncomfortable & pain for the whole day. Went to have it checked out at a clinic listed under my company's medi scheme & was told I had eyelid infection. Well, doc said it wasn't serious & I didn't insist on a MC. I was...wrong.

This is how I looked yesterday...

*Note: It is my left eye, but photo shows as right.

Thought this uncomfortable feeling & pain will subside after a while since even doc said it wasn't serious, I presumed I could go to work the next day.

Until...my eye turned to this state when I looked myself in the mirror early this morning...

I literally gave myself a shock when I saw myself in the mirror! Who is this ugly duckling!? Now, it didn't look that 'not serious' anymore so I decided to visit my usual GP instead....for better assurance.

Turned out I had contracted eye infection from bacteria attack. Gave me 3 days worth of MC & adviced me to go back to him for review on Friday. My GP even told me he hoped not to see me so often anymore when I was about to leave his room. What a funny GP, but honest!

I heard from him that this swelling will take 3-5 days to subside so now, I'm more worried about this hindering my trip to Seoul. I SERIOUSLY hate going overseas in a sickly condition, much less when I can't have full vision! To counter that, I just have to be obedient for these few days & quietly hope the swelling will go away before Sunday...

Year 2012, please do not give me anymore problems!

Travelling Extravaganza - Bangkok (BKK)

This is the beginning of my travel madness. But rather than calling it madness, I called it 'Extravaganza' instead since I do gain a little out of all these 'MADNESS'.

Alright, my post title says it all. My 1st trip of 2012 began with me touching base onto Bangkok (BKK). It was a freaking last minute notice (like 5 days notification...duh) and so, there I went to the all-so famous BKK for holiday, NOT! It's a BUSINESS Trip folks!

Casting aside the madness, let me get down to the more interesting and the 'not-so-dull' on-goings I had during my business trip in BKK. First, the hungry gang (that includes me) rushed off to a Japanese restaurant - FUMi Japanese Cuisine at Siam Paragon recommended by yours truly. Simple reason....good food, affordable price. Nuff said.

FUMi's menu
There were so many choices within the menu (Oops, I forgot to snap the inside of the menu -_-"), my colleagues were pretty lost in deciding what they want...even though they were seriously famished!

Deciding, deciding, deciding...
Anyway, I ordered mine happily - A Teppanyaki Chicken Steak set (can't really remember its actual name) and I was even more happy to see my order arrived 1st!

What's in the set?
All you can see from the photo above except for the drink & chawanmushi!
In Singapore, ordering such a set may jolly well cost me around 18-23 bucks, depends where you eat of course. But here, in FUMi, this set only cost me not more than 11 bucks! So, if you are a tourist, or never mind, even a businessman/woman in BKK, try out this restaurant when you can!

If you are interested, here's the address to this affordable japanese restaurant:

A little break from food, let's take a look at the hotel I'm residing during my stay in BKK. The hotel I'm residing at is named Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel. Hmm, this hotel is not exactly located at a very strategic area, not very near city though you can reach the city in less than 15 minutes and it is located on top of a hill. Quite a sight huh? What's more, a hospital is situated in front of the hotel, however, since the hotel is situated up on the hill, you can't really see the hospital...

Having said that, the hotel service and facilities aren't bad at all. The room is spacious, plenty of space for movement, a dressing table and their bathroom is of certain standard as well!

Twin room, very spacious!
Part of the bathroom. Clean & spacious!
What looked so profounding was this...

What is a BOTTLE OPENER doing in the bathroom!???????????

The restaurant where they serve their breakfast isn't shady either. The whole area is lit with warm lights and the full height windows really give the whole place a bright and natural glow.

My very own American style Breakfast :D
And here I go, my 1st and very own American style breakfast~

If you do not mind the location and prefers the comfort & service a hotel provides, you may want to find out more about Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel.

Frankly speaking, we didn't get to go to many places for this trip due to our meeting being held in the very hotel we were staying in. What we had was just a 3-hour OTOT at Siam Square and a dinner treat from our big boss somewhere in BKK, heh. During this dinner treat, I did spot something interesting which caught my eye ^^.....

A freaking BIG prawn that is about the size of my palm!

Not only that, I got to slurp authentic tomyum goong from BKK itself. I'm a happy woman ^^.

Yummy, spicy, delicious!
I also managed to taste Thailand's version of 'Char Kway Teow' - Pad Thai, which is absolutely delicious! Tried twice but only managed to snap the one I ordered at the airport....

I don't think it is right to leave BKK without tasting the most popular dessert of Thailand - Mango Sticky Rice! Seriously, the taste of it in Singapore versus BKK really makes a huge difference.

Since my blog is so commonly filled with shopping stuff and loot, I can't simply avoid posting my loot from BKK, can I? Sorry to disappoint some of you who may thought I shop BIG TIME in BKK but truth be told, what could I simply achieve in a 3-hour OTOT, right?

Hello Kitty portable fan for my baby girl~!
Sorry, both my baby girl and I are in such a Hello Kitty craze, it is hard for me not to get her something that is not in the form of Hello Kitty recently.

*Cough* Yes, my only 2 apparel loot gotten from BKK. Sounds pathetic but I really couldn't see any others that caught my eye. Most of them were either too small, too big or too...simple.

However, the best loot I've gotten from BKK would have to be this~

A pretty, big and bling bling skull ring!

This ring is currently my favourite ring of all. The quality is damn good and not to mention the skull is not creepy at all. I do like skulls but not really those creepy ones. I hope I can get some more of these good quality rings in BKK again when I re-visit!

That pretty much summed up my 1st travel extravaganza of the year. Next up, it will be Taipei (all women's shopping heaven), my 2nd travel extravaganza~

Dentist Visit - A long-term phobia~

Yes....laugh at me in any ways you want. I am afraid of going to the dentist, and this had been my worst phobia ever. I already resigned to fate, knowing one day I may jolly well have my teeth all decayed and teeth-less...until now.

Year 2012 is considered a really weird year for me, at least until now. Firstly, I have not been in a good health since the beginning of 2012 with a ridiculously high fever, cough, flu, followed by gotten my voice almost down to whispers. However, I dunno where I got my courage to think to myself that perhaps, this year I will want to brave myself and storm to the dentist! Since last year, my dear hubby had been reminding/encouraging me to go but I just didn't dare to make the call. This year, with the help of my dear colleague who really bothered to nag at me to go (You know who you are, and THANKS!), I made my 1st dental call of many years and made a reservation. Seriously, I really gotta thank her else I think I may just never enter a dental clinic once again.

Now, my teeth is totally clean and fresh and clear of tartar/plague! Though the process was a pain in the ass (I literally got injected more than 10 times to numb my gums), it was totally worth the pain! Frankly speaking, throughout the process, I was trembling, shaking and not to mention 200% uptight due to my phobia. As painful as it can be, I am less afraid now and will not hesitate to be a good dental patient to go to the dentist whenever it is needed.

It has been days since I had gone to the dentist, but the pain is still there. My teeth is more sensitive now, and my corner gums are slightly sore (could be due to the injections and pulling from the dentist). I really hope they will subside soon so I don't have to be so skeptical about it T.T

Next visit to the dentist will be to review my teeth and thereafter, we will be able to discuss further on how to close up the gaps between my teeth. This month is a freaking hectic month for me, I hope I can get to go back to my dentist after my business trip to Seoul.....

For overcoming my long-term phobia, I like to *pat* myself for being so brave! LOL!!!
