A Date with 'Hatched'

I always enjoy American Breakfast, especially those that serves great eggs no matter where I go and I'm really glad I can have them, at any time! Thanks to nadnut's recommendation, I brought my family to this restaurant named 'Hatched' one Sunday.

We made our way happily to Evans Road where the restaurant is situated at but was disappointed to learned that it's closed at 6pm on a Sunday. Fortunately, the staff told us there is another outlet at Holland Village! We quickly made our way there cause we were just simply famished!

Frankly, we kinda lost our way for about 15 minutes trying to find where Hatched was and were really at the brink of giving up when we finally found it. If it's not due to the renovation going on in front of Hatched, we wouldn't take such a long time finding it. Nonetheless, we were really glad we found it!

Check out the menu from Hatched! Their menus are so artistically designed :)

Because we were famished, I didn't take a lot of shots around the place but I did take a shot of their counter. After taking a peek at Evans Road's one and the one at Holland Village, I gotta say Holland Village's outlet is more spacious and cozy.

While waiting for our orders to be served, I noticed 2 little eggs on our table and I got all curious...

Hahaha! yeah, they are salt and pepper holders! The owner really made an effort to ensure its theme is all around!

Since I'm already here, I had to order their most popular dish, Egg Benedict! It can be ordered individually and thus, I ordered 2. Come on, eggs always come in pair usually, aren't they?

They look just yummylicious, don't they? They do! What makes them taste so delicious will be the combination of their beautifully poached eggs and bacons. Mmmm....writing this at wee night just make me so damn hungry again!

The portion isn't exactly small and I really doubt my girl would finish a whole plate of eggs, therefore, I ordered a blueberry waffle for her.

She really enjoyed the waffle until we reached the centre portion which the waffle kinda went too soggy due to the strawberry on top of it. Well, It was still delicious though.

My dear hubby ordered another dish but somehow, the picture I took went missing and I couldn't post it up here. His looked really delicious as well and I reproached myself for not checking my phone immediately after taking it. Hmph.

They don't cost expensive and they serve such breakfast-like mains throughout their operating hours, all day! I'm all hands up for this restaurant and will highly recommend those egg-lovers, or American-Breakfast lovers like me to visit Hatched and try their egg dishes out. I go a really long way just to patronise and sample their egg dishes. For one, I am really relieved to like their food or I'd have wasted my trip (from Northeast to West)!

iOS vs Android phone

My phone (iPhone 3GS) is on the brink of self-destruction any minute and I've been brooding over what phone I plan to get once my current phone decided to give up on me for quite some time.

When iPhone 4S was launched, I told myself I would not give in to temptation and faithfully wait for iPhone 5 (when it was still going by this terminology). Never once did my mind or decision wavered for any other phone because I felt iPhone series was all I want to use in the future. However, the release of Samsung Galaxy series caused my decision to sway...

Now, there are a few phone I'm looking at and just today, one of them have been announced to be launched next week! That just pretty much giving me more stress in choosing my preferred phone!

THE NEW iPHONE
Needless to say, this was one of my No.1 choice for my phone replacement once my phone decided to self-destruct. It has countless of applications in its AppStore and believe it or not, it is one of the main reasons why iPhone users are not willing to switch to another phone. In fact, I'm one of them...

Though the design of the phone (actual one) is not released, it was rumored to have bigger screen than it's previous models. However, it will not be launched here until at least near Q2 or Q3 of 2012.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S3
Samsung S3, latest Android smartphone from Samsung
With the success of Galaxy S2 launched from Samsung, S3 has caused quite a huge hype and anticipation to many Android-wannabes. There seems to be many people waiting for it as well. Just today, news have released that it will be launched in Singapore on 30th May 2012. What a great time to launch just when I have the thought to switch to Android...

However, this phone has a drawback. In one of the reviews I've read somewhere, it was mentioned that the material of its casing is plastic, thus giving people a 'cheap' feel. It also looks rather similar to Galaxy Nexus and HTC in terms of looks, which is not very appealing than it's previous model, Galaxy S2. Given its latest features, I will be lying through my eye if I say I am not tempted...

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE
Samsung Galaxy Note ~ Pink version!
This phone is the source and cause of my decision to keep to iPhone to be challenged. After playing with my colleague's Galaxy Note (not the Pink one of course!), I discovered its processor is faster and more smooth than iOS on iPhone. Not only that, the screen is much much bigger than iPhone and everything looks just so wonderful! The Pink version just add on to my percentage of wanting to switch to Android!

Then again, as Galaxy Note is only able to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (don't be mistaken, it's not food, it's a hardware version of Android~) and not more than that, it caused me to think twice about getting it. Why? Cause that will indicate Note will not be able to upgrade any further than Ice Cream Sandwich.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2
When Android phone finally caught my attention, I decided to Google for more information in hope of getting my mind set on which phone to buy for my phone replacement. It was then I knew that Galaxy Note 2 will be launched end of this year. Of course, this is rumored news once again. No detailed information was released for this model yet but I don't think it will differ much from Galaxy Note itself and definitely will have its features similar or better than S3.

Honestly, I am pretty reluctant to give up iPhone, but at the same time, I will really like to switch to Android for some features of theirs which iPhone may not be able to provide.

iPhone
- APPSTORE. Countless of apps and that's the main cause of user retain.

Android
- Fast processor.
- Customisation without the need to even 'root' a.k.a jailbreak.
- Supports Flash.
- Able to download almost everything provided you are able to find the .apk file.
- Able to place widgets and notifications at the display screen is a wonderful thing...

Conclusion?
Well, as of now, I am leaning towards Galaxy Note 2 (if my current phone can wait...) until 'The New iPhone' is able to show me something different which can give me a reason not to switch to Android. Giving up AppStore from iPhone is not easy, but I believe PlayStore (Android's app market) will soon match up to AppStore. *cross fingers*

Healthy Diet for Weight Control

I was never a slim woman, except the period when I was diagnosed with thyroid and lost 22kg. That said, I ballooned back to the fleshy woman I've always been (though not as plump as before) the moment I recovered from this illness.

It was really a coincidence when I stumbled upon a blog via Pinterest which a blogger's biography was being blogged. This female blogger lost her weight by going through healthy diet and lots of exercises...naturally. Inspired by UndressSkeleton.tumblr.com, I've decided to control my weight too but not at the expense of killing my current lifestyle.

I'm a woman who simply can't live without rice and potato. It is clearly obvious that low-carb diet will not suit me. Even if I go ahead with this diet to lose weight fast, I doubt I can persist longer than 1 week. Might as well kill me knowing my weight will balloon back the moment i stop the diet. So, I mark on the journey of another diet - Low Calorie Diet.

To go on low calorie diet, one will need to track/record what they've taken. To make things easier, I found a calorie tracker app via AppStore called MyFitnessPal. I can confidently say, this app is a damn useful app!

Setting my own daily calorie control~
The numbers in green will have to be the daily max calorie I can take. I'm not a pro so naturally, I'm not the one who set the daily calorie limit. Apparently, the app can calculate how much calorie is suitable for me by working on my weight and height, and how much weight I wish to lose per week.

This app has a very huge database for food and their nutrients information, making calorie tracking very convenient. I just love using it!
Diet can never work on its own if one plan to lose weight or stay healthy just by dieting. Exercise is a must to fight off the extra calories you take in, or to offset from those heavy-caloried food. With my work, family and not to mention caring for my child in tow, I practically has no time for after-work exercises. That means gym, swimming, yoga/pilates classes are out for me.

After some research, I realised aerobic exercise (static exercise) can also help lose calories, though not as good as vigourous exercises like swimming. As usual, I browsed through AppStore to see if there's any application related to aerobic exercise and I found it! Daily Workouts was highly recommended by one of my friends. Though recommended, I still browsed for others to compare but so far, this' da best! It even shows videos & timer countdown for every exercise!

Video with timer countdown, superb!
This application shows workouts which covers almost all parts of the body. However, I love AB crunches most. I feel that ab crunches help in toning tummy area more than sit-ups.
Other than workouts, Yoga is another exercise I've always wanted to try. But then again, it is very hard for me to go for yoga class due to much family committment. That's where AppStore comes in handy. From there, I came across Pocket Yoga which shows and teaches you how to go through yoga practice correctly.

This app is just simply great!

I am hoping with the combination of Low Calorie diet, workouts and yoga, I can lose my additional weight on a healthy basis. Diet pills may let you lose weight fast but nothing beats a sturdy and permanent healthy eating that makes you lose weight gradually and no worrying of having your weight ballooned back.
