Hello Kitty Craze ~ iPhone Customisation

I've been holding iPhone for more than 2 years but never had I go deep into customising my iPhone. Though I do customise it, it was not exactly full-fledged.

Lately, I was in a sudden gush of urge to customise my iPhone, fully customised that is. With that, I stepped into a journey (online of course!) to search for a theme I like. Being a hello kitty lover (thanks to my girl), I stumbled upon a Hello kitty theme while surfing for themes! Without further consideration, I decided to use this theme...finally!

Adorable icons aren't they! I really love those Hello Kitty icons!

Unfortunately, the theme owner did not create most app icons I'm using and so, I made some of the app icons in the above photo myself.

My pride out of my entire iPhone customisation will have to be my Dialer theme. it is 100% customised by me!

I don't know about others but personally, I like the way i designed the dialer app giving it a simple, sweet and pinkish look. There are some existing Hello Kitty dialer apps out there but most of them are either too neon, too pink (dark or neon). Took me more than 2 hours to complete it!

Last but not the least, I couldn't resist changing my whatsapp background! I don't really use normal SMS thus only change whatsapp's background. As usual, I couldn't avoid using Hello Kitty images and anything that's to do with pink!

Whatsapp background~
Found the background for whatsapp and frankly, I found it via internet!
It may look too kiddish but hey, my daughter will at least learn some things out of it!

Now, let's see how long I'll hold on to this theme, hahahahahhaha!!!

NYX Eyeshadow Base Review

I always hate it when my eye makeup wouldn't last long enough and touch-ups (I HATE touch-ups) had to done inevitably. What couldn't be more irritating was to have your eye makeup smudged all over your eyes, ruining not just your eye makeup, but your entire face. After much thought, I decided to invest in a primer, an eye primer to be exact.

After reading some reviews on certain products, I decided to invest in a 'not-so' high end primer first since it would be my 1st attempt in using it - NXY Eyeshadow Base. There are 2 choices to NYX Eyeshadow base which is Nude or Pearl and I chose Pearl.

It's so teeny weeny, hehe~

Hmm..the container for the eyeshadow base isn't big at all, maybe 5cm width? I used my index finger to do a estimate measurement and it was almost close to half of my finger's length.

I may have chosen the wrong base afterall cause Pearl is a little glossy and shimmery. For a base, I don't think one should chose one that is shimmery at all.

Sorry, already used a little thus for the dent :P

Somehow, when I applied this onto my eye, it looked pretty much like a white shimmery eyeshadow and it felt...ok. The texture of the eyeshadow base was fine too but it is a little oily in my opinion.

The base has a white shimmery glow.

I was really hoping it can help me in making my eye makeup last longer (like more than 8 hours) but unfortunately, NYX Eyeshadow couldn't do the job. It didn't even last more than 3 hours. Bleh! My eye makeup turned all smudgy as always right after the 3rd hour (and I wasn't even out in the sun!), ruining my entire look for the day -_-"

There are definitely other eyeshadow primers which may do the job but frankly, they aren't exactly cheap. Not knowing if any of them can really do the job of making my eye makeup stay put on my eye for long, I really felt skeptical buying them. I was almost of the verge of giving up and buy Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer when I happened to stumbled onto a blog where a female blogger was blogging her experience of DIY eyeshadow primer!

I apologise for not linking her blog because as I mentioned, I STUMBLED onto it so I am unable to show you how she DIY it. I decided to experiment anyway since no harm trying and miraculously, it worked! My eye makeup lasted me throughout the day and I am talking about more than 9 hours long! Can you imagine how much that will save me compared to buying an eye primer?

Have always been planning to work on a tutorial blog post on this DIY eye primer but my eye infection had to join the party. I promise I will work on this tutorial blog post once I can splash 'warpaint' back onto my eye so fellow ladies who shares the same woes as me for having easily smudged eye makeup will not be troubled anymore!

Soon, soon it will come!

Travelling Extravaganza - Seoul

This is, I believe to be the last travelling extravaganza I'd have until a few good months before I'll get to travel again *cross fingers*.

Though my eye was still under recovery then, I applied nail lacquers for the trip for vanity's sake and also to console myself not to keep thinking of my condition. With that, I took Color Club's Otherworldly from my nail lacquer stash & applied them onto my nails.

Seriously, I've bought it more than 3 months ago but I had no idea why I did not use it till now. Perhaps I was hoping the blue and the glitter will elevate my mood somehow. Nonetheless, the application for Otherworldly is very smooth and I only used 2 coats for this.

Being one who love Seoul, this trip wasn't very enjoyable to me due to one and annoying reason - my eye. As mentioned in my previous blog post 'Eye Infection Gone Bad', my eye's condition had gone terribly bad during my trip there. I was really thankful to my partners in Seoul who took such good care of me & even offered to bring me to an eye specialist just to get my eye checked. Without them, I'd have freaked out in a foreign land!

话说回来...although I did not truly enjoy my trip (physically), I did manage to do some retail therapy there, heh. My shopping desire in Seoul was pretty objective - Hair accessories, anti-dust caps if any and foot masks (since I'm allergic to most korean skincare products). My most extensive loot? Definitely the iPhone anti-dust caps and hair accessories! I basically had a serious overhaul on these 2!

iPhone anti-dust caps!
Some are giveaways, some for self-keeping of cos!
Hair accessories overhaul!
Some on the right were for my girl, the rest...MINE!
Honestly, I bought more than those...but somehow, due to my eye, I wasn't in the best of mood to take a lot of pictures and thus, these 2 were the only ones I took when I was in Seoul. When I came back from Seoul, I was literally focused on seeking a cure for my eye and didn't think of taking any other loot I've brought back from Seoul anymore. Am truly sorry I couldn't share the joy of Seoul's shopping haul for this time.

Let me get my eye fully recovered and I'm sure I'll be able to tune my mood back to normal & blog with more energy again!

Eye Infection gone BAD~

Gosh...not been blogging for the past 2 weeks and I'm truly apologetic about it! Truth be told, my missing updates has a reason...

Remember my post on contracting eye infection on 'Eye Infection...on a 29th Feb~'? Well, my eye infection had in fact gone BAD, and I mean REALLY BAD. For some period, I thought I could have gone blind or something *Touch Wood!*.

It happened on the 2nd day when I was on Seoul, Korea. When I boarded the flight from SG, my eye was still quite erm...fine. During my 1st day there, my eye looked like this:

Seemed like it's on the road to recovery ya? I myself thought so too but unfortunately, the condition just turned from "recovery" status to DISASTER. The next morning when I woke up, I knew my eye wouldn't get any better when I felt my eye...

It turned to this...

Yes. It had gone back to the same condition I had when I had my eye infection on Day 1. In fact, this swelling went even worst than Day 1. I didn't really notice until I went to freshen up and kept feeling something's hindering me from closing my eye. To my horror, I saw that my white eyeball area was COMPLETELY SWOLLEN!

Sorry if it looked kinda gross but it did happen, on me. It was the first time I had such swelling/infection that affected my white eyeball and I was really scared. Imagine I was in foreign land and my eye condition turned into this state. I was literally on the verge of going crazy, from panic. Fortunately, my partner from Seoul brought me to an eye clinic she recommended and for the 1st time in my life, I visited a foreign doctor in a foreign land.

The doctor was NOT gentle at all. In order to check my eye, he twisted and turned my eye as if my eye wasn't swelling or in pain at all! I wanted to be brave and tolerate throughout but he was so rough with my eye, I couldn't stand it and kept fidgeting with pain all the way. This korean doctor told me this was the result of an allergy and hence, prescribed me with 2 eyedrops - 1 for allergy, and the other for inflammation. With that 2 eyedrops, they were like miracle drops which greatly reduce the swelling at the white eyeball area within a few hours! I was so ecstatic and thought I would recover in a matter of few days. Again, I was WRONG.

My eye swelled again the next morning after I was back to SG. I was truly scared then. If the eyedrops prescribed by the Korean doctor were no longer effective, did it means my eye had gone seriously bad? I told myself I need to get to an eye specialist no matter what & I got myself a referral letter from my GP to National Eye Centre, Singlasik Centre. Oddly enough, my eye didn't swell that much anymore on the day I headed to the eye specialist:

Still very red and slightly swollen, but not that swollen anymore.

Took a few tests when I was there and my eye specialist said I had double vision. He was pretty puzzled but he reckoned it was due to my swollen eye. I tell you, I literally had trouble moving my eye to all directions and they looked kinda blurred when I tried to move...Finally, he told me my eye had gone from infection to inflammation state. Like my post title, eye infection gone BAD. He prescribed me a new anti-inflammation eyedrops since the one korean doctor prescribed had expired and told me to keep using the anti-allergy one.

This was how my eye looked the next day upon my visit to the eye specialist:

I would say it got really better....slightly but nonetheless better. With this, it also kickstarted a month-long of me without any eye makeup on.

This was how I looked after 3 weeks upon my 1st visit to the eye specialist:

Still a little red somehow but definitely better already!
This was how my eye looked just a few days ago...

Went for my eye checkup earlier today and eye specialist said it was definitely better already. Swelling is now 100% gone but based on my encounters on my left eye to him, he checked my eye once again and told me my left eye is a little dry. Prescribed me with eyedrops to prevent dryness and I would only need to see him 3 months later. Phew...it was really damaging to my wallet to keep going back to him!

Throughout my visit to the eye specialist, I kept asking him if he knew the cause of my eye infection. Unfortunately, he told me since I didn't go to him from Day 1 I had the eye infection, it was impossible for him to tell me what could have caused this eye infection that turned terribly bad into inflammation. This is really GREAT. Now there's no way for me to know the cause and therefore I wouldn't be able to prevent against it! I certainly wouldn't want another infection just to know what could have caused it either!

Sigh, now I can only trial and error. I hope it's not my cosmetic cos I will really hate to go without any eye makeup for such a long period! Speaking of which, it is time for me to put my eye makeup back on which somehow can also help test if they are the cause (though I sincerely hate the infection). Silly I may be, but I won't want to go so plain all day long...it bores me T.T

Let's wish this to be 300% over so I can be back to my happy self. :D
